Olympic 2010 & Skate America 2008

Bringing a World-Wide Spotlight on Snohomish County

Join us on Friday, March 28 when Business Before Hours presents an exciting look at two international events that will soon cast Snohomish County and the Pacific Northwest into the world spotlight - and likely lead to permanently increased tourism and business as well: 2008 Skate America in Everett and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Skate America is the premier international figure skating competition that will determine the competitors in the 2010 Olympics, and will attract more than 60 elite skaters from 15 countries competing in ladies, men’s, pairs and dance.  Forecasters estimate that the event will bring thousands of visitors to the county and produce as much as $2.6 million in local tax revenue, and approximately $20 million in added economic impact via regional, national and international media coverage. Athletes will stay at the Tulalip Resort Casino, whose 12-story, multi-star luxury hotel is expected to open this summer.

"There will be 40,000 tickets available for Skate America, which will include two shows a day for three days. That's a lot of people who will come to Snohomish County," Amy Spain, Snohomish County Tourism Bureau.

The 2010 Olympics are also right around the corner, and will deliver a huge impact to Snohomish County.

According to the state Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development, between 140,000 to 190,000 visitors from outside British Columbia are expected to the area during the Olympic Winter Games. Of those, the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) for the games estimates that 55 percent could come from the United States, with 40 percent traveling through the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, 30 percent of overseas visitors to British Columbia also could stop in the Pacific Northwest.

Now is the time to position your business to effectively capitalize on the world-wide exposure these events will bring, and attract huge numbers of potential new customers.  Meet with Steve Baker of Production Sports, who is producing the 2008 Skate America and find if your business would benefit from sponsoring this event in some way.  Learn how the SnoGold 2010 Olympics committee is preparing businesses across the county to take advantage of these great opportunities from Amy Spain, Snohomish County Tourism Bureau.

Don’t miss this great event that will introduce you to over 100 potential new clients and business partners, greater membership benefits, a delicious breakfast, and valuable prizes.
