Chamber Intern Attains Education Goal!

Chamber Intern Desiree Rosenbach receives her GED
Education is a transmission of civilization…
It’s studying evenings. Determination. Tenacity. Taking subjects that you haven’t looked at in a while, to say the least. Dividing time between homework, job, kids, other obligations. It’s working toward and earning something no one can ever take away from you. It’s accomplishment.
It is no longer correct to regard education solely as a privilege, but as a basic right in today’s world…
One of the Chamber’s associates achieved a tremendous accomplishment recently. Our very own Desiree Rosenbach, an intern through Service Alternatives and Housing Hope, was awarded her GED on April 3, 2008 in a ceremony held at Everett Station. She, along with five of her classmates, was treated to an impressive cap-and -gown ceremony, which was attended by dozens of friends and well-wishers.
Several short speeches and poems were read by instructors, as well as a few planned and impromptu messages and words of encouragement from the audience. “The math portions were very difficult”, she mused, “but I kept working at it, deciding to try the test near the end of March. To be honest, I didn’t think I did too well on it, so it was a really big, pleasant surprise when I found out over the telephone (at the Chamber) that I passed. I cheered in the office so loudly that everyone came racing out to make sure I was OK, which I was.” Desiree’s plans include further study, at present in the form of additional computer class work, and perhaps later in the area of education.
Education makes a person impossible to enslave…
We at the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce are extremely proud of and happy for Desiree. She worked hard to achieve this goal and we believe she will go far. Her gregarious nature is infectious and her myriad of improvements since her arrival here are worth the venerations. WAY TO GO, DESIREE!
