Volunteers play important role in boosting the local economy at the Marysville Tulalip Visitor Information Center

The Marysville Tulalip Visitor Information Center ended 2005 with an extraordinary number of people served throughout the year, and since the grand opening in 2002.
The Marysville Tulalip VIC continues to be an active, interesting and exciting place. During the summer our hardworking volunteers assisted over 100 visitors a day, as well hundreds of business contacts accessing the resources of the Chamber of Commerce, NW Women’s Business Center, holding meetings in the Chamber conference room.
Data from the Washington State Office of Community Trade and Economic Development showed that visitors spend $608 million per year In Snohomish County. The results in 8,100 jobs, $149 million in payroll, 9.2 million in local taxes and 41.4 million in state taxes. The volunteers of the VIC play an important role in the economy by guiding tourists through the area.
Thanks to Chamber members, our volunteers have been “on the rocks” (toured the River Rock Inn) were “out to lunch” (guests for lunch and toured the Northgate Hotels and MaKenzi’s Tea House) “traveled afar” (went to the Sultan’s grand opening of their Visitor Information Center and visited the new Snohomish Visitor Center), and celebrated (attended the Festival of Lights Dinner Theater at Warm Beach Christian Camps). The information received on these familiarization tours (FAM tours) of member businesses and area VICs provides our volunteer staff with knowledge and personal experience to better guide and refer visitors and local residents.
FAM tours are an excellent way to increase your business exposure and ensure that your products and/ or services are referred by people who “really know”.
