hosts Governor Gregoire’s Visit to Marysville

At the invitation of Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce President Caldie Rogers, Governor Christine Gregoire visited Marysville on July 23rd Caldie arranged for the governor to visit four small businesses on Third Street as well as meet with business owners, local officials and school officials.
Mel Sheldon thanked the governor for freeing up time from her busy schedule to meet with the people who were present at the meeting before introducing John McCoy, he stressed the
relationships the Tribe has with Marysville and Snohomish Country. “When we work collaboratively, we make good progress.” Mel said.
John McCoy was announced and talked about Quil Ceda village, stating that there are only two federal cities in the United States, that one was Washington D.C and the other one was Quil Ceda Village.
John goes on to explain that we have only developed a fourth of the two thousand acres developed.
Christine Gregoire talked about how she was concerned about small businesses, supplied simply because small businesses can’t afford a lawyer, CPA and the lobbyists. “Trade missions are very important for Washington State,” she said.

For Tulalip & Marysville business owners, a sense of hope was inspired as Gov. Gregoire made a series of personal comments to follow through on the issue they presented that hinder their business success.
For Tulalip, Gov. Gregoire formally recognized Quil Ceda Village’s role in becoming one of the state’s premier tourist destinations, bringing new revenue to the state and jobs to the people. It also increased her awareness of the area’s urgent transportation infrastructure need to support this growth.
For the Governor, a new way to communicate directly with business communities was born. Her official contacted the Chamber to express her delight, appreciation, and to request an outline of the day’s visit to implementing as a model for community visits state wide.
