RESOLUTION NO. 2007-10

URGING THE REJECTION OF REFERENDUM 67

WHEREAS, Reference 67 will be on the ballot this November;

WHEREAS, Referendum 67 (R-67) was put to the voters because of a bill (ESSB 5726) that passed during the 2007 legislative session; and

WHEREAS, R-67 is a new law that allows plaintiffs who allege mistreatment by an insurance company can pursue a claim of up to triple damages in addition to attorney fees; and

WHEREAS, R-67 will negatively impact the insurance industry by allowing more aggressive and abusive frivolous lawsuits to move forward, driving up insurance costs and resulting in fewer insurance choices for Washingtonians;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Greater Marysville Tulalip Board of Directors encourages its members and voters statewide to Reject R-67.
